The
Government approved the increase of official fees for all IP rights as from 15 July 2017. The new official fees was approved by Decree
nº 35, published in the Official Gazette nº 75, of 15 May 2017.
It
is important to note that with regard to trade marks, Mozambique uses a single
class system provided for in terms of article 126 of the IP code. Therefore,
availability searches and DIU's will be charged per class.
The
approval of the new fees, enable IPI to now receive renewal applications for
logotypes, trade names and industrial designs. The logotypes, trade names and
industrial designs that is valid up until 14/07/2017 will be exempted from
paying the respective renewal fees provided the renewal applications are filed
at IPI before 31 December 2017. The logotypes, trade names and industrial
designs which period of validity is from 15/07/2017 onwards shall pay the
applicable renewal fees provided for in the new schedule of fees.
